First, find or draw the face of a panda. All you need is eyes, ears, the nose and a mouth.
Step 2
Cut the print to size and tape it inside the glass much.
Step 3
Using a black Chalkola chalk marker, trace the features of the panda and fill in the empty spaces.
Step 4
When you are satisfied with your work, let it dry and remove the pattern from the inside of the cup. Once the mug is completely dry you can fill it with milk. You’ll be thoroughly charmed by the way the white milk brings out the features of the cute panda face! Also check out : Chalk Marker Rainbow Inspirations
Tips for Drawing on Glass Mugs with Chalk Markers
Chalk markers work beautifully on glass because the surface is non-porous and smooth. Here are a few tips to get the best results:
Clean the glass first: Wipe your mug with rubbing alcohol or glass cleaner to remove oils and fingerprints before drawing.
Shake and prime your markers: Shake chalk markers well with the cap on, then press the tip on scrap paper until ink flows.
Use steady pressure: Chalk markers need consistent pressure for even coverage. Go slowly when tracing curves and small details.
Let each layer dry: If you're adding multiple coats or colors, let the first layer dry completely to prevent smudging.
Test erasability: Chalk markers are designed to wipe off glass, but always test a small area first if using on vintage or specialty glassware.
These techniques work for any design—panda faces, floral patterns, holiday themes, or custom lettering on glass surfaces.
Other Animals You Can Draw on Glass Mugs
Once you've mastered the panda glass mug technique, try these other adorable animal designs using the same tracing method:
Cats: Simple whiskers, triangle ears, and dot eyes make charming feline faces.
Bears: Brown or black chalk markers create teddy bear or grizzly designs.
Bunnies: Long ears and a pink nose (if using colored markers) make sweet spring designs.
Owls: Large circular eyes and feather patterns work beautifully on glass.
Foxes: Orange and white markers create trendy woodland creature mugs.
The beauty of chalk markers on glass is that you can change designs seasonally—Halloween bats in October, snowflakes in December, flowers in spring. Simply wipe clean and start fresh whenever you want a new look.

No. Liquid chalk markers are made to wipe off smooth glass with water, so the panda is temporary — wipe it off and draw a new design whenever you like. For a design meant to last, use a paint marker made for glass and follow the curing instructions that come with it.
A clear glass cup or mug with a smooth surface works best: you can see the pattern taped inside, and the milk shows through the finished design. Avoid textured or frosted glass, where the ink doesn't go on evenly.
Just black. The tutorial traces the panda's eyes, ears, nose and mouth with a black chalk marker and fills in the dark areas — the white comes from the milk you pour in afterwards. A white marker is optional for highlights.
On the outside. As shown in this tutorial, tape the printed panda pattern inside the mug and trace it from the outside, which keeps the pattern steady and leaves the design on the exterior. Remove the pattern once the ink is dry.
Wipe the glass with a damp cloth or sponge and warm water. For stubborn spots, use a mild glass cleaner or a mix of water and vinegar.
Not in a dishwasher or a long soak — chalk marker ink is made to wipe off glass with water. If you want to keep the design for a while, hand-wash the cup gently around it, and keep the drawing below the rim so it stays away from your lips.
